How to file a case for defamation and get compensation?

I m student of fin.Yr of LLB,made complaint against few students,college wanted to put a mask on d matter n expelled me.I hv gone from d piller to post.with d enrichment of allahabad HC it has been repealed.I hv not been found guilty by d VC. College their anti ragging committee, faculties made à life sized conspiracy with 52 students with serious allegations n kicked me like à football, defamed me as I Was culprit, alleged that I made video in d class clicked photos,On the objection I fought them and blocked d way of Faculty and faculties hv alleged me with open heart freely n no investigation was required by d authority on complaints.I collected evidence against them.I went with my old sick father in allahabad HC several times n university many times with this purpose only.other students stopped talking with me.NOC has been given by the order of university.kindly guide me what remedy liés. I should file FIR or criminal suit for defamation or suit for damages ?Pls reply soon.regards.

Criminal defamation is not too easy to establish. Every criticism / enquiry is not defamation. You will have to establish before a criminal court that someone deliberately defamed you. If you succeed, then summons would be issue. Conviction rate of defamation cases is pretty low. Alternatively if you file civil suit for damages, those also might take a long time. It is worth pursuing only if you want to make a point. Actual financial benefit may not come easily.
