11-Jun-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Father is now 55 years of age. We are Hindu family. He has converted to Christianity or some unknown faith since more than 5 to 6 years. Now he is forcing wife and children to convert from Hinduism. Also leading to domestic abuse and insane and unruly, unpredictable behavior.

The Constitution of India grants freedom of religion and the Indian Penal Code lays down provisions for offences relating to religion. Article 25 of the Indian Constitution guarantees the right to freedom of religion. Forced religious conversion is an illegal and non-religious practice. People in the country have the freedom to follow any faith or religion. The constitution of India protects and ensures this right to all individuals irrespective of their religions. These laws made forced conversion a cognizable offence under sections 295 A and 298 of the Indian Penal Code that stipulate that malice and deliberate intention to hurt the sentiments of others is a penal offence punishable by varying durations of imprisonment and fines.
