Fake degree issue and avoiding FIR

08-Jan-2023 (In Criminal Law)
almost 4 years ago i have contacted an agent for distance education degree. He told me that you will get admission in 2nd year on basis of your previous college but after taking 25 thousand from me he started to avoid my calls. When i told him that i will file an FIR. He told me that I will get certificates and it will be original certificates. After sometime he sent me marksheet via post and told me to take degree from university by paying 3 thousand. As my family and friends suggested to avoid such things i burned it in front of my friend and never went to college to take this fake degree. Basically i have never used it and never claimed this document. In government job forms also i have only classified 12th as my highest education qualification. Now i have read somewhere that police is enquiring fake degree scam in university. Will i have to suffer.

Yes! If you had transferred any amount to him through any mode other than cash, and, if he get caught then your data and marks heat can easily be traced down by the Authorities. For now, I suggest you to not contact with that person over phones and chats.
