Ex boyfriend of a friend of mine used to harras her. Now they broke up

There's a friend of mine. She has recently broked up with her boyfriend (not officially). When they were in a relationship he use to hit her. Once he slapped her in a crowed place. And also he cheated on her so many times even with her so called friends. And when finally she decided to let him go..he used to come to her college, he used to stand outside her "Room". One day near 12:30 am he came up straight to her room. She was with 2-3 her cousins he saw her and start abusing. Can i file a case?
go to the nearest police station and file a FIR. AND also you may file a complaint online. if you are afraiding to do it, you can take any experts advise. or help of any legal experts. there is nothing to worry. raise a voice against harassment
