Disturbance and silent threatening by a locallite

24-Jan-2026 (In Criminal Law)
We have a apartment rented out, And this person has a tailor shop opposite to it. He is a local small time house broken too. We vacated our tenant recently and searching for new tenant now. But this guy comes and disturbs my mother over call that he has some contacts for rent. Even though she politely declined , he threats "you have to go through me". Even if you post no broker/online ad, I will come to know & create problem. We feel annoyed because we dont want such negativity everytime.

The conduct described amounts to criminal intimidation and harassment. No third person has any legal right to interfere with renting your private property. You should first issue a written complaint to the local police seeking entry in the General Diary. His threats fall under Section 506 IPC. If harassment continues, you may file a complaint before the Jurisdictional Magistrate under Section 156(3) CrPC. You can also seek a civil injunction restraining him from interfering with your peaceful enjoyment and letting out of the property. Preserve call records or messages as evidence. Law does not permit intimidation merely because someone claims “local influence.”
