The acts described by you clearly attract provisions relating to criminal defamation (Sec. 356 BNS), criminal intimidation (Sec. 351 BNS), and also transmission of obscene/derogatory material through electronic medium under the IT Act. Sharing intimate chats without consent amounts to outraging modesty and violation of privacy, and if any minor is involved, it may further invite stringent penal consequences against the person sharing such content. You may immediately lodge a written complaint/FIR before the police/cyber cell enclosing screenshots and other digital evidence. Simultaneously, you may consider filing a private criminal complaint under defamation before the concerned Magistrate. Regarding your government job, mere filing of a complaint will not adversely affect your service; however, if you are arrayed as an accused in any case due to retaliatory allegations, it may create departmental complications. Therefore, it is advisable to act lawfully, preserve all evidence, and avoid further retaliatory exchanges. You may contact a lawyer in your jurisdiction for drafting and presenting your complaint in a proper legal form to ensure maximum protection of your rights. Advocate Sorrabh Sameer Sharma
