Complaint against driver for theft of mobile phone

19-May-2023 (In Criminal Law)
My phone was stolen on 18th December. On17 the may it was recovered by the police as the culprit was my own driver. The police didn't call me or inform me anything . The driver was called to the police station. He got scared and came to me and confessed his crime. Now police has let him free and not even called to tell me that my phone has been found. I didn't understand this. If driver hadn't come to me I wouldn't even know that my phone was found. What should be the punishment for the driver

Hello,

As what i can understand from your query is that your phone was stolen and when u complain this to police ,your driver cam3 and confess the offence and still no police action has been taken yet..as theft is a crime u/s 379 and if you want then give a written complaint to your area police station and tell them to register an FIR under said sections.
