compensatio my friend the owner of laptop hired a lawyer and asking mn

my friend laptop was with me but i went for office someone from the building stole my laptop and after few days the laptop was not recovered but the thief send the price value of the laptop and the case was sorted but at this moment my friend the owner of laptop hired a lawyer and asking me for 30000 compensation what to do now

Hello, Yes, he can lawyer up and ask for the money as he might feel cheated and or duped. If he has sent you with a legal notice or something you should reply back with a counter legal notice or if you feel that he is threatening then you should take the first step and initiate legal proceedings.
