Gemtlmen, Drunken driving is an offence punishable u/s 185 of Motor Vehicle Act .. punishment prescribed is imprisonment extents to six months or with fine which extent to two thousand rupees or with both.. Normally all courts will impose fine only for the first offence.. A person caught for drunken driving will be slapped offence u/s 184 of M. V Act as well for driving the vehicle dangerously which attracts a fine of imprisonment extents to six months or with fine which extent to one thousand rupees. Normally the court impose fine of Rs. 1000/- for this offence. . so in the instat case maximum fine of Rs. 30000/- in total will be imposed.. Please note that this is the maximum amount and a lessor amount can be imposed by the courts in some cases considering age, type of vehicle etc...
