Can police omit the name of the accused in FIR

If complainant has given name of a specific accused for a theft at her place while registering a FIR can police omit that information and mention against unknown person ?

Yes, the police may, after investigation, decide not to show a specifically named person as an accused if the evidence does not support their involvement. However, if the complainant specifically named that person in the original information, the police should accurately record the information received; they cannot simply suppress or alter material facts.

if they have omit or removed the name of the accused from the entire complaint or allegations then you should approach an authority for that and you have another remedy too to deal with this situation. you should approach an advocate for better assistance. if you are from Mumbai I can assist you.

Yes, they’re correct, however they should mention the name of the alleged accused in the FIR because the actual story that took place is explained and taken down in which case their name should show in the FIR kindly get in touch and send me the FIR copy
