Can legal complaint be filed for getting into a fight

Sir, yesterday i and my neighbor got small fight on very small issue. he misunderstood and translated my body posture in wrong full manner and after that he suddenly opened his gate and came near to me very quickly and started threating to me but it was not like hard kind of threat but i will consider this as small threat just like to beat me up. so that hot situation we both started fighting and then at the short interval of time people came and separated us. in this i got small cuts in my hand and he also had some small cuts in hand but we both are not too much injured. we are all right. but my question is whether is there any provision that i or he can file a case in this matter and if yes how big this issue may be. is there any think that i should be worried about. because i am a student and my exams are right there so i am tension and i think he also may be tension regarding each other. so please advice in the matter. i will be thankful to you.
