Can I file a complaint against my ex boyfriend for cheating money

I was in 3 year relationship with the person from college and he told me to ask my friend a 40k money. I told i can't do that. I asked my friend a money and she gave him a money through gpay. Then 1 yr later he never gave back her money. I asked him lot of time he never returned it. 1½ yrs back he brokeup with me by cheating with another girl. Then again I asked him to gave back her money. Till date he didn't return single rupee. Can i file a complaint against him?
Yes , you can file recovery of money suit
For that time limitation is 3 years,
With 3 years from the date of money given we can able to file case and recover money with 6months as per cpc and crpc
