Can entire prosecution case be based on whatsapp chat only, 420 case

25-Aug-2023 (In Criminal Law)
Hi. I have a whatsapp chat in a group where some people were talking about cheating and promised money was transferred between the two people but I don't exactly know if they really cheated or not. Can I win a case against them only on the basis of whatsapp chat without any other evidence and actually, even I am not sure if cheating happened or not, but as they have shared money, it must have happened. Do I have any chance in this case? I have nothing except whatsapp chat. The case is related to cheating in an event where some award was to be given. I want to file the case because someone close to me could not win and the winner might have won by impersonation cheating but I have only whatsapp chat.

Yes…nowadays WhatsApp chats are enough to proof innocence or guilty mind. But you should have solid proof that the money was transferred from one person to another. Then you can always win your case. For more legal assistance I am just a call away.

Hi,

You may file a police complaint in this regard and present the whatsapp chat to the police in course of the investigation. Given the facts provided by you it would appear that the whatsapp chats suggest a crime has happened which is something that the police can then investigate to see whether it actually took place or a conspiracy was afoot.
