Can boy Marry another girl without breaking previous engagement

Engagement was done marriage date was fixed.Boy and his family went hiding 2months before marriage date. After giving complaint we got to know boy had taken anticipatory bail for 376 ipc on apprehension during promising us for marriage itself. Now He is preparing for marrying another girl without breaking engagement with me. Can he Marry girl without breaking previous engagement contract with me which was signed by both families. Can I apply for permanent injunction ?

Dear Sir, Engagement is not legally binding like a marriage contract in India. Breaking an engagement, though morally and socially wrong, is not considered a legally enforceable breach that can be specifically enforced in court. The court will not force someone to marry or restrain them permanently from marrying another person. Permanent Injunction against marriage: Indian courts generally do not grant injunctions to prevent a person from marrying someone else on the ground of a prior engagement. Marriage is a matter of personal liberty under Article 21 of the Constitution. Courts cannot compel marriage or prevent it, except where there is proof of subsisting valid marriage (like in cases of bigamy).
