Dear Sir, Filing Counter-Complaint: Yes, you can file a counter-complaint even if your wife’s case is under trial. If you have solid proof that the allegations are false, you can approach the police with a complaint for filing a false case. However, the police may hesitate while the trial is ongoing. In such situations, you can approach the Magistrate under Section 156(3) Cr.P.C. to direct police to register an FIR.   Jurisdiction (Chennai vs. Bangalore): Ideally, the complaint must be filed where the offence (false complaint or its impact) occurred — in this case, Chennai. However, if you have faced harassment, threats, or any direct consequences in Bangalore, you may file a complaint there. But be prepared for possible objections on jurisdiction. You may still approach Bangalore police who can forward your complaint to the appropriate jurisdiction or assist as per procedure.
