Beaten up by a friend can I use medical report to file FIR

If I get beaten up brutally by an individual , can I go to the nearest hospital and get a medical report from a doctor before going to the police for FIR? As the person who made that crime is close to me and I don't want to creat any problem for him, yet I am worried for my future security as well. I guess the medical report will be a strong evidence if he attacks me in near future. Please provide me a Solution
