Based on your situation, here are some remedies and steps you can take:
Visa Requirements
Since the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) stated you need a visa to travel, you should apply for a non-immigrant visa. Be honest about your prior arrest during the visa application process, as failure to disclose this may lead to denial.
Record Review
Obtain certified copies of the court records related to your case in Florida. Ensure the guilty verdict for the lesser charge is clearly stated, as this may impact visa decisions.
Legal Assistance
Consult an immigration attorney to address potential issues arising from the conviction and to strengthen your visa application.
Waiver of Inadmissibility
If your conviction makes you inadmissible to the U.S., you may need to file for a waiver of inadmissibility. This can be done through Form I-601.
Travel Caution
Ensure compliance with all visa conditions if granted. Avoid overstaying or violating U.S. immigration laws to prevent further complication.
