Is it mandatory to register the commercial rental agreement

Is it mandatory to register the commercial rental agreement with Sub register office. Monthly rent amount: Rs.40000 Security Deposit: Rs.4 Lakhs Duration of lease : 21 months If it is mandatory,is there any way to avoid this registration & its cost..

Yes as per Karnataka stamp duty act you will need to register if it’s a lease deed, incase of a rental agreement you don’t need to register it. If you’re looking for a registration you will need to register it at your local sub registration office.

Rental agreement for more than 11 months requires mandatory registration at jurisdictional dib registrar. unregistered rental agreement is not unenforceable and not valid. As per the provisions of law registration is compulsory and not optional
