How to divide income of ads between artist and uploader
15-Oct-2023 (In Trademark & Copyright Law)
I'm helping out a couple of kids in my neighborhood by uploading their rap videos on my business YT account (my account has a lot of traffic). A crazy thought struck me: let's say one of these kids turned out to be the next big thing and the video blows up. I would obviously monetize it with ads. How would one divide the income of the ads between artist and uploader? I've tried looking this up, and the law seems a bit hazy in this regard, is there a legal precedence for this? Hypothesizing even further ahead, could a record company force me to take down the video if they sign him? Thank you, Matt
