Hi,
We are building Drooid, a social platform that uses Artificial Intelligence to curate, generate and distribute information.
We collect information from various online sources and generate articles with the help of Artificial Intelligence. With the generated content, we use images from other sources, for example, a picture of Mr Nitin Gadkari for a political issue from the Times of India. We don't own the copyright of those images. Does it falls under fair usage, and what's the best practice?
The use of copyrighted images in articles published generally does not automatically fall under fair use.
Fair use is a legal doctrine that allows limited use of copyrighted material without the copyright owner's permission for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, or research.
However, using copyrighted images in articles for commercial purposes or without proper attribution and permission from the copyright owner is unlikely to be considered fair use.
