Cancelled my admission from a coaching institute how can I get refund

12-Jul-2023 (In Consumer Court Law)
After having made the payment of about Rs. 1.5 L for an year in a reputed coaching institute, the child decided not to proceed further with the classes. The notice of withdrawal was given after 1.5 months of joining. The institute has stated in its brochure/fee receipt that no refunds will be possible after 1 month. Is this legal for the Coaching institute to not provide the refund after proportionate deduction? Is there a legal remedy for the parents. What should be the approach to legally get the refund.

You can give notice to the coaching institute for proportiinate refund. If they neglect or refuse to pay then you can file complaint in consumer forum with compensation for mental trauma and interest.

When it is expressly written on broucher/ Receipt that no refund will be made after one month then it is deemed to accepted by you.
You have no option, but to request them for the proportionate deduction.

There are various judgments of consumer forums and also supreme court on this aspect. The coaching institute can not retain the entire amount. The best option for you is to file consumer complaint before appropriate consumer forum. You will get justice.
