What steps can be taken for filing a case against a wrong Google review? Please provide information

25-Jul-2024 (In Civil Law)
Hi, I am a doctor, and one of my patients has posted a wrong Google review about me. Can I file a case against him? The patient tried to reach me on the hospital phone while I was busy with other patients, so I asked the phone operator to take down the details. During this time, the patient wrote a negative review about me and the hospital. After 1.5 hours, when I was available, I communicated with the patient via email, and he was satisfied with the replies and even thanked me. However, I later discovered he had written a Google review. My hospital has tried to contact him, but he is not answering. Since the review is incorrect, I would like to file a defamation case. Please let me know how to proceed with legal action against fake Google reviews, including legal action against fake Google reviews in India.

In India, legal action against fake Google reviews is possible through multiple channels. Individuals or businesses can report the content to Google, file a civil or criminal defamation case, or lodge a complaint with cybercrime authorities. For businesses, fake reviews may also qualify as an ?unfair trade practice? under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, making them actionable in court. The type of legal recourse depends on the nature of the review and the evidence available.

Regarding split AC outdoor unit installation, there are no specific national laws, but local building codes, housing society rules, and BIS safety standards apply. Key considerations include proper placement for airflow, minimizing noise, and weather protection. Some policies encourage setting ACs to a temperature range of 20C to 28C for energy conservation, though this is currently a guideline rather than a strict legal requirement.

You need to take a printout of screen shot of the review and meet a lawyer, also show him the review on a screen. An advocate will first issue a notice to the person who has posted it ( I hope you know his address also) seeking compensation and to get the review removed. If he does not pay up, you go ahead to file a case in court.
