26-Aug-2025 (In Civil Law)
Sir. My query is very simple. I ma preparing the petition To file in person. My question is. What I need to fil in Petition. Why I need to fil in Synopsis. Assume in synopsis point no. 5 relate with xyz matter. Then in petition as well point no. 5 would be the same xyz matter or it could be something else. Means if the petition have 10 points. Then in Synopsis as w well we need to have the 10 points in same order or it coulb be something else. Please advice Thank you

No, synopsis does not work like that. Synopsis contains the gist of the whole matter. There needs to be a List of dates and events, gist, points to be urged, acts relied upon and citations if any and if not then you can mention that you shall produce during the course of hearing/arguments.

Your question is very valid. Let me explain clearly. A petition is your main document — it contains the full facts of your case, your legal grounds, and the relief you are asking from the court. A synopsis, on the other hand, is simply a brief summary or outline of the petition. Its purpose is to give the Judge a quick idea of your matter before going into details. Now, regarding your doubt: the points in the synopsis should follow the same order as in the petition. For example, if Point No. 5 in your petition is about the “XYZ matter,” then Point No. 5 in the synopsis should also mention “XYZ matter,” but only in a short form. You should not introduce new points in the synopsis that are not part of the petition. Think of it like a book: the petition is the full story, while the synopsis is like the table of contents. Both must match, but one is detailed and the other is just a guide. In short, always keep the petition and synopsis consistent, with the same points in the same order, only differing in length.
