Seeking clarification on OBC NCL certificate usage

06-May-2025 (In Civil Law)
I have an OBC NCL certificate issued by the Delhi Government, but my caste is not included in the Central Government’s OBC list. Can I still use this certificate to apply for positions at centrally funded institutions (e.g., IIT Delhi)? Also, where exactly is this state-level OBC NCL certificate valid—only for Delhi state government jobs and institutions, or does it have broader applicability?

Your OBC NCL certificate issued by the Delhi Government cannot be used for applying to centrally funded institutions like IIT Delhi if your caste is not included in the Central Government's OBC list. State-issued OBC certificates are valid only for state government jobs, state universities, and state-level schemes within Delhi. For Central Government jobs, centrally funded educational institutions, and other central schemes, your caste must be listed in the Central OBC list maintained by the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC).

-For centrally funded institutions like IIT Delhi, you must be listed in the Central Government's OBC list to avail OBC reservation benefits. A state OBC certificate alone is not sufficient if your caste is not in the central list. - Your Delhi Government OBC NCL certificate is primarily valid for: - Delhi state government jobs - Delhi state educational institutions - Delhi state benefits and schemes For central government positions or centrally funded institutions, you would need to be listed in the Central OBC list and obtain the appropriate certificate for that purpose. Kindly check the central OBC list.
