Proof of Citizenship for my Mother

20-Jul-2025 (In Civil Law)
My mother is 85 years old, bed ridden and she lives with us. She only has a valid Voter ID with her name mentioned as Ranu Bala Das and no other valid documents to prove her citizenship. She has a Public Sector Employee dependent card bearing DOB with her name mentioned as Ranu Das. Is it enough to prove her citizenship and if not, please let me know what I need to do for the same. Thank you.

First i need to know the purpose for which you want to prove her citizenship. Apart from valid voter ID and Public Sector Employee dependent , do you have any property registered in her name. If she has any property then i need to have the sale deed of the property . With which you can file declaration suit for declaring her citizenship.

Since your mother is 85 years old, thus she must have a lot of her documents with her to be used for the occasion viz. birth certificate, matriculation marksheet, voter id, aadhar id, passport, employment card, etc. which all are useful if her citizenship status is in jeopardy. you need to get all her documents in order inclusive of properties in her names and her tax details. And consult an advocate who would study your case and advise accordingly.
