Need to know legal advice and proceedings for neighbours misbehave

06-Oct-2025 (In Civil Law)
In July, 2025, two of neighbours used abusive language towards me and my mom and even threatened. I did online NCR but when police called me in police status, my mom insisted me that let's not take any action so police took in writing that there is no dispute now. However, I've a feeling that it was injustice towards me and would like to know how I can legally proceed from here. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1xv-fkD8rNL-qflcGfW1w6-lzK3WRnsbu/view?usp=sharing any estimate on lawyer fees?

Type of misbehaviour - Is it verbal abuse, physical threat, trespassing, nuisance, or something else? 2. Frequency and severity - Has it happened once or repeatedly? 3. Evidence - Do you have any videos, witnesses, or written complaints? 4. Location - Which city/state are you in (for example, Mumbai, Delhi, etc.)? Laws and local police practices can vary slightly. Once I have that, I can explain the exact legal steps like how to make a complaint (written or online), under which sections of IPC you can take action, and what remedies are available (police complaint, NC, restraining order, etc.). Would you like me to give a general summary first (common legal remedies for neighbour misbehaviour in India) or should I guide you based on your specific case details?

Since you have already made an online NCR, it means the incident was recorded. However, as the police noted no ongoing dispute based on your mother’s statement, the matter was informally closed. If you still wish to take action, you can file a written complaint before the local police station or Magistrate under Section 200 CrPC, mentioning all details and evidence. The offences may fall under Sections 294 IPC (abusive language), 504 IPC (intentional insult), and 506 IPC (criminal intimidation). You may also seek an injunction from the civil court if the neighbours continue to harass you.

Well, you could have filed a Private Criminal Complaint on the basis of the lodged NC before the concerned Magistrate of the First Class. You can still file such Complaint and see the action happening, but you have to keep patience.
