My neighbour is continuously burning plastic at his home

26-Oct-2023 (In Civil Law)
My neighbor's burn plastic coating on wires to retrieve the copper part of it, on regular intervals. The open burning of plastics generate poisonous gases which are known to cause severe health problems. This fact is proven by various research and thus, it is strongly advised to not do so openly. Even after requesting them from ceasing the activity, they have responded adamantly by saying that they were doing so in their premises and so they won't stop the process. They burn the PVC coated wires right against the boundary wall that we both share. The smell of it creates a dense smog and causes difficulty in breathing. Both short term and prolonged exposure to such gases will cause dioxin poisoning. Is there any way we can put a stop to such actions as this is nothing more than ignorance and negligence on our neighbours part.

Yes, first try to solve the matter mutually by requesting them not to burn it if they are not willing to do so then make a written complaint to your local police station, Councillor of your Ward and also make a formal complain to the Chairman of your Municipality.

Hello,

At this point of time you can serve a legal notice through a lawyer upon them and also file a police complaint for nuisance first...
