Your concern is understandable, but this issue is not uncommon and can be legally rectified. The discrepancy in your mother’s name (first name in school records vs full name in degree/passport) is generally treated as a clerical/format variation, not fraud or misrepresentation—especially since both refer to the same person. For purposes like job verification (DV), such differences are usually resolved by providing supporting documents and a clarification affidavit. You can execute an Affidavit of One and the Same Person, stating that “Sunita” and “Sunita Ramesh Pawar” refer to your mother, along with her ID proof (Aadhaar, PAN, etc.). However, since this affects multiple documents (SSC, HSC, degree, passport), the correct legal approach would be: 1. Prepare a notarized affidavit 2. Issue a gazette publication (if required) 3. Decide whether correction is needed in degree records or to maintain consistency through declaration This requires proper legal handling to avoid future complications in employment, government verification, or immigration. I strongly advise you to consult a lawyer, who can draft the affidavit correctly, guide you on whether corrections are necessary, and ensure your documentation is legally consistent and safe for all future purposes.
