Is it compulsory for teachers to perform the polling duty

01-Dec-2023 (In Civil Law)
I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF A TEACHER CAN BE APPOINTED AS PART TIME BOOTH LEVEL OFFICER ATTACHED TO HIS/HER REGULAR TEACHING WORK. AS I AM AWARE THAT LAST YEAR IN A JUDGEMENT IT WAS ANNOUNCED THAT TEACHER CANNOT REFUSE POLLING DUTY (i.e. ONLY ELECTION DAY) AND CENSUS DUTY. BUT NOW A DAY IT HAS BECOME TREND IN DELHI ELECTION OFFICE TO DIRECTLY CALL TEACHERS AT RANDOM AND APPOINT B.L.O. AND NO EXTRA REMUNERATION IS PAID AND THE DOOR TO DOOR WORK HAS TO BE DONE AFTER REGULAR SCHOOL TIME. THERE ARE SOME B.L.O.'S WHO WORK IN OFFICES TILL 5-6 PM. TEACHERS ARE APPOINTED AS BLO EVERY YEAR AND NO RELIEVING, ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATE AND NO OTHER COMPLETION CERTIFICATE IS ISSUED. THEY ARE ALSO TOLD THAT WHOSOEVER IS APPOINTED HE/SHE HAS TO WORK TILL RETIREMENT. AND THE TEACHERS ARE THEIR AT THEIR DISPOSAL FOR ANYTIME(OTHER THAN REGULAR TEACHING WORK)EVEN ON GAZETTED HOLIDAY,SUNDAY, SUMMER VACATION, WINTER BREAK,AUTUMN BREAK. IF POSSIBLE PLS GET THE JUDGEMENT WHAT TO DO ? PLZ

Currently there is no such judgement from any court that prohibits teachers from doing election duty, census duty or any miscellaneous jobs related to electoral services. Since you seem to be harassed by the whims and fancies of your immediate department, file a complaint and if still not resolved, form a union and file a writ in High Court. You'll be relieved from this headache for once and all.
