Dear, Why the court did not allow you to represent your father? What kind of petition you filed in the court? You can represent your father in the court if your father gives power of attorney to you to appear on his behalf. However, make sure that he appears in the court during his cross examination. The court will not allow anyone except your father for deposition for cross examination. Please note that a party to the court proceedings may be represented by a power-of attorney holder duly authorized by the principal. Under Order 3 Rule 1 & 2 of Civil Procedure Code any appearance application or act in or to any Court except otherwise provided by any law made or done by the party in person or by his recognized agent or by a pleader on his behalf. Order 3 Rule 2 of C.P.C. specifies the power-of-attorney holder as recognized agents for the party. Therefore, the power-of-attorney holder who is authorized to appear on behalf of the party can appear, file application engage advocates and act on behalf of parties. Discuss with your lawyer for further course of action.

Hi Since your father is medically ill, you can always represent your father by taking special power of attorney(since your father cannot speak, he can express his consent to grant you special power of attorney) and you can appear based on the special power of attorney granted by your father. Please check with your lawyer on how to get the special power of attorney registered. It is relatively easy , cheaper and faster
