How can I get a government lawyer? Due to the lockdown, we are unable to afford private lawyer fees. How can we apply for a government advocate, and where can we find information on obtaining government-provided free legal advice?

Go to the Legal Aid Centre/LEGAL AID Cell in your nearby court. They will provide you the Government Lawyers which can fight for you either on free basis or on reasonable rates. However, you need to showcase that you belong to a poor background.

You will have to apply to the Legal Aid Cell of the concerned Court before which your grievances can be redressed. They usually have a form which has to be filled up along with an application seeking the assistance of the Legal Aid lawyer.
