WE ARE A REGISTERED CO-OPERATIVE HOUSING SOCIETY IN PUNE,MAHARASHTRA HAVING 12 MEMBERS AND IN OPERATION FROM 1995.OUR LAST ELECTION TO MANAGING COMMITTEE WAS HELD IN DECEMBER 2016 AND 5 MEMBER COMMITTEE WAS CONSTITUTED.WE HAVE ADOPTED MODEL BYE LAWS.NOW THE QUESTION IS WHEN WE SHOULD HOLD ELECTION AGAIN AND WHAT WOULD BE STRENGTH OF COMMITTEE TO BE ELECTED?ARE WE REQUIRED TO CONTACT REGISTRAR FOR THIS?
As per Bye-laws, the election must be held on or before the completion of 5 years from the date of the previous election. The period of 5 years commences from the very date of the previous election.Â
The committee must be comprised of various numbers of members of the society. It could vary from 5 to 11 at the max. This strength includes the reservation of seats for women members as provided under section 73 BBB of the Act.
Every Election is conducted before the officer of Registrar who conducts the elections with transparency.
