Criteria for OBC-NCL - what should be produced as a proof of income

02-Jun-2025 (In Civil Law)
As per Government reports, for calculating OBC NCL income limit of 8 lakhs Rupees salary of parents should not be considered. Then what to show as a Income? Government officers ask ITR returns but it shows salary and not any other sourse of income. Please clarify.

For OBC-NCL eligibility, salary from government service is excluded only for Group A/B officers. For others, total income including salary is considered. ITR is standard proof. If parents are not Group A/B officers, their salary is counted. For clarification, refer to Dopt om No 36033 1 2013dated 27 05 2013. Other income includes rental, business, or agricultural income and must be declared separately if applicable.

Yes, generally, when determining if parents are within the OBC non-creamy layer (NCL) with an annual income of 8 lakhs, their salary and agricultural income are not included in the calculation. This means that only other income sources (like investments, business, etc.) are considered.
