Collection of Mandatory Religious/Festival Funds

03-Aug-2024 (In Civil Law)
I'm writing in regards to get a clarity about the recent judgement that was passed by Honorable Justice Mr. Madhav Jamdar on Nov 2023 in regards to Cultural Funds. Bye-Law5D allows the general body of the society to collect Cultural Funds, however would like a clarity to know what all activities are allowed under Cultural. Also, whether religious activities like performing pujas and Havan , as well as festivals like Holi, Navratri, Diwali and Christmas are allowed too under this judgement ?

Well, Religious activities like Performing Pujas, Havan as well as festivals like Holi, Navratri, Diwali and Christmas are allowed under the judgement cited by you, because, belonging to a particular religion implies belonging to a particular culture. From this position follows a crude generalisation, that to belong to a particular culture implies belonging to a particular religion. It is clear that religion and culture cannot be separated.
