You can post this response: Yes, you can still seek correction of your name even though more than one year has passed since you completed Class 12. Since the change involves expanding your surname/initial in CBSE records, first approach your school and request correction of the name in the CBSE records. The procedure depends on whether it is treated as a correction of an existing name or an actual change of name. If CBSE does not permit the requested correction through the school, you may need to follow the applicable legal name-change procedure, such as an affidavit and publication in the Gazette, and then approach CBSE with the supporting documents. Since you plan to use the documents for overseas PG admission, it is advisable to start the process early and ensure that your passport, Aadhaar, educational certificates and other records carry the same name.
