Apostille for POA for Italy, Italian citizen.

18-May-2026 (In Civil Law)
I need to get an Apostille for a POA for inheritance matters, for use in Italy. I'm an Italian citizen on a religious Visa Entry X-2. I'm registered at FRRO as resident in Maharastra, but currently I'm in West Bengal and can't move. It seems that: 1-Apostille for Italy needs State attestation and not SDM attestation. 2-State attestation in WB, having residence in another state, might not be possible. A previious try in Delhi was rejected by MEA for unspecified reasons. Maybe SDM attestation. THX

Dear Client, It transpires from the contents of the query that your attempt to apostille for POA was rejected by MEA for unspecified reasons. This information appears to be misleading in nature and you should have pursue specific reason behind the rejection of your application. However please be informed that apostille attestation of POA for Italy refers to apostille stamp pasted on the documents to legalize it in Italy. This is an international certification that confirms the authenticity of a document for use in another country who is a member of Hague convention 1977 and Italy is a member of that convention. In 2012, it was decided by the MEA that only the authorised service provider can visit the concerned authorities of MEA to get the apostille stamp on the document. So, in the given scenario, it is advisable to contact with an authorised service provider visiting the website of MEA to navigate the issue in the right way.
