Information regarding cheque given as surety

Hi, A guy has to pay me 50,000 which is pending. He says that he need 3 months & can give cheque as surity. What are the legal docs i should collect & what needs to be filled in cheque? How to verify his sign & account details?
You should obtain an undated but signed blank cheque drawn in your favour together with a covering letter stating that he has issued you this cheque for repayment of debt he owes you. Verification of account details need to be done at your end.
