03-Sep-2023 (In Banking / Finance Law)
Can practising Advocate open DEMAT & Trading account in BSE, NSE to buy/sell shares in share market in free time & can do buy/sell the share for himself? Because A) Rule 47 & 52 are confusing about the same. B) some people say it does not conflict with bar council rule some say it does not conflict.

Yes a lawyer can invest in shares / debentures, derivatives, F&O, intra day trades etc, that cannot amount to a business. However, moment the lawyer tries to use his skills of investment for consulting others to help others make money, that would be wrong.
