Effect of defaulting in personal loans in getting govt jobs

14-Jul-2023 (In Banking / Finance Law)
I took some personal loans and was unable to repay due to financial constraints. I have no idea what banks are doing about it a s iam not communicating with the banks since I didn't like the approach of the recovery agents. Its been over a year now. And they may have filed a lawsuit against me in court. Can they file an FIR? Is so, will I be ineligible for government jobs?

No they cannot file an FIR for defaulting. They must have filed a petition in the Debt Recovery Tribunal against you. However the court may direct your arrest if you fail to appear before the court. The impact of such defaults should not ideally affect your prospects for getting a govt job. But the eligibility criteria of the job you want and the applicable service rules will have to be looked at before anything can be said about it.
