Clarification on authorization process for elective orthopaedic proced

18-Aug-2026 (In Armed Forces Tribunal Law)
I'd like to understand the process for a serving officer seeking authorization for a significant elective orthopaedic procedure (specifically, surgical limb lengthening) at personal expense, outside the military hospital system. He procedes with the surgery at his own risk, opts for 4 month leave(2 annual +2 furlough). Opts to stay for shore and desk job posting for 12 more months to finally appear for medical test and work under his newly availed medical conditions.

As a matter of rule an Army Officer cannot opt for elective surgery outside the Command. However, the same is possible if you consult the Medical Officer who will then refer it to a Board Pursuant to that status shall be decided Crux of the matter is that it's not a rule but it is possible.
