Dear Sir

Thank you for your query. We can definitely help you in this. Typically KFC, Subway and other such chains operate on the "franchise" model wherein the chain provides the equipment and training while the space is provided by the local partner. Yes a fire license is mandatory. You will also need to obtain a food business operator license from the FSSAI along with other local registrations such as shops and establishments, tax etc. As KFC and Subway serve chicken and not beef it should not cause any religious concerns.

We have helped quite a few clients set up restaurant franchises and will be happy to help you through the entire process. We know the issues that are likely to arise and an guide you better.

Please feel free to contact us.

You should enter into lease agreement. The agreement should contain clauses which should protect your interest as land owner. Clauses such as security deposit forfeitur, injunction and penalty in case of default of payment of rent should be inserted.

Please take note of following -
1. To open a restaurant at any place first among all, that place is required to be a commercial property.
2. You need to have all your water and electricity connection etc on commercial basis paying bills as per the commercial rates decided by the government.
3. You need to get your lease deed done before allocating the property for such use.
4. It is also required to take permission from Municipal Corporation in against Fire Norms, ventilation norms, etc.
5. Lastly, you need to have your own lawyer always by your side while doing all these things. Reason being, you are going to tackle the big honchos of the Corporate world as well as the government side. So you need to double ensure that you are not on the losing side.
