About Incorporation as a private limited or as trader under shop act

26-Aug-2023 (In Startup Law)
Hi Lawyer, I want to start selling t-shirts on Flipkart / Amazon / Snapdeal. As they want VAT / CST no. Company PAN; I will have to get registered as company / LLP. So should register myself as a pvt. ltd. company? (but for which I will have to invest Rs.1 lakh as minimum paid up capital amount). Or should I register myself under shop act? I am from Mumbai.

You can apply for and obtain a VAT/CST number for an individual proprietorship as well. If they specifically require a Company or LLP to be incorporated then you would have to necessarily do so. As of 2015 there is no minimum paid up capital required.

Hello, You can register yourself ynder shops and establishments Act for a shop license. However, you can also register yourself as a One Person Company to apply for VAT/CST and Company PAN Card.
