If you are unable to pay EMIs and credit card dues, you can approach the lending banks directly to request restructuring, settlement, or a one-time compromise. Recovery agents cannot threaten, abuse, or forcibly enter your home — such conduct is illegal under RBI guidelines. Send a written complaint to the bank’s grievance redressal cell and also to the RBI Banking Ombudsman about harassment. If recovery agents visit without notice or behave unlawfully, file a police complaint for criminal intimidation and trespass. Keep copies of all notices and communication so that, if needed, you can seek court protection against coercive recovery measures.
