Loaned money to friend in USA but he said now he will pay in India

29-Oct-2025 (In Recovery Law)
I have given money to friend in USA. But we both are in India living in different districts in same state. He once said he will pay in particular date at my apartment in rupees. So can I file civil case in my locality? Based on my apartment address?

Legal & Practical Meaning If the loan was given while your friend was in the U.S., repayment in India can still happen - but it changes a few things: Currency difference: If the loan was in USD, and he pays in INR, you'll need to decide on the exchange rate to calculate the correct amount. Tax and banking rules: If the repayment is made to your Indian bank account, it becomes a domestic transfer, not an international remittance. There's no problem legally, as long as it's genuine repayment - but it's best to keep written proof (chat, email, or signed acknowledgment).
