Transfer an apartment which I co-own with my mother to my name.
12-May-2025 (In Property Law)
I co-own an apartment with my mother who is 71 years old. I want to transfer the property to completely my name during her lifetime. I am the only child, and I have no other siblings.
hello,If you co-own the apartment with your mother, she can voluntarily transfer her share to you during her lifetime through a gift deed or release deed, provided she is mentally sound and acting of her own free will. A gift deed must be registered and may involve stamp duty, depending on your state laws. Alternatively, a will can be prepared by her stating that her share will go to you after her demise, but that takes effect only after her death. Since you are the only child, succession may not be contested, but for clarity and legal ownership during her lifetime, a registered gift deed is the most straightforward method. for further discussion kindly contact me.
Okay, I understand your need. In this situation, one simple and effective thing we can do is transfer the property share of your mother's in your name.
we can do it as simple as a Deed of Gift by your mother in your name.
You can have a consultation with our team and with all the documents regarding your property along with your copy of Deed of that property.
