Succession of property from death mother to her first husband's child

Its regarding my friend
His mother passed away recently without a will, my friend (her son) is the first child of her from first husband.. she didnt divorce her husband took her child came back to grandmothers home and left him.. with paying monthly expenses and she later married second guy without divorce from first husband, she got two children with him..
She got some ancestral and self acquired properties with her.. can the child ( my friend) claim half of her properties..
dear Sir in your friends case your friend can claim ancestral property from his first father as he is a class 1 legal heir as per Hindu Succession (Amendment) Act 2005. He is also eligible to claim properties acquired by his mother.
