My parents own a residential apartment in Mumbai and they want to gift it to their own daughter (blood relation). Can you let me know the stamp duty and registration charges applicable in this case? Will the charges vary if it is gifted to their daughter and son in law together? How long it will take to complete the transfer / gift deed? Is there any other way where the property could be transferred with less charges?
Stamp duty charges are less if gifted to blood daughter i.e. approximately 1% of the property valuation. Also, registration charges depend from one registration office to another.
