In your case, your income is more than Rs 2 lakhs from your job as an engineer. Since your income is more than Rs 2 lakhs you cannot purchase agricultural land in Karnataka in your name. Section 79A of Karnataka land reform act prohibits purchase of agricultural land by any person or family who has annual income of more than Rs 2 lakhs from non agricultural sources. Your land would be confiscated by the government in case you purchase an agricultural land.
