Release deed or Gift - preference in the case?

Hindu Father in law is joint holder of property along with son in law, daughter and minor grandson. Daughter dies. Father in law wishes to relinquish his share to son in law (without consideration)or gift it for tax benefit. Which is the preferred mode of transfer of share in property for Father in law?
you can transfer the property by executing Gift Deed. It has to be registered.
or property can be transferred to your son in law or grandson or to both.
father has to be sole owner of the property which he wishes to gift.
