20-Dec-2024 (In Property Law)
I have a purchased land in the name of my late mother. I did a mutation to transfer name of mine but i didn't write the name of my two sister in vanshavali and the mutation is done. Now I want to change Vanshavali with right one. Can i change vanshavali in mutation? (my father was live and want to give the property) And does my sisters have right to take property equity?

To correct the Vanshavali (family tree) in the mutation records, you can approach the concerned revenue authorities and request a revision of the mutation by providing the correct family details, including your two sisters. Since the mutation has been done in your name, but the family details are incorrect, the authorities should allow an amendment to reflect the accurate information. As for the rights of your sisters, they may have a share in the property depending on the circumstances. If your father was alive at the time of the property transfer and it was his intention to pass on the property to you, your sisters could have a claim under the Hindu Succession Act, 1956, especially if the property is considered ancestral or was jointly held. However, if the property was self-acquired by your late mother and your father did not have any right over it, then your sisters may not have a share unless they were named or included in a will or other legal arrangement.
